Only the outer surface is sandblasted with fine stone powder to create its distinctive matte finish. This surface treatment was developed by Herbert Krenchel and patented in 1954.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe name “KRENIT” is a combination of “Krenchel” and “Eternit,” a material with which he had been involved in research.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAwarded a gold medal at the 1954 Milan Triennale, “KRENIT” is one of the defining examples of Danish modern tableware from the 1950s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe original version was produced from 1953 to 1966.
