Our 2026 Erik Höglund exhibition opens on September 19.
Since opening in 2006, ELEPHANT has regarded Erik Höglund as its most important designer and has continued to present his work. Since 2009, we have held annual exhibitions dedicated to Höglund in Tokyo and Kyoto.
To date, we have handled more than 3,000 works, yet they represent only a fraction of what he produced over his lifetime. Even now, we still come across works we have never seen in person, as well as works whose existence was previously completely unknown to us.
Working primarily in glass, but also in iron, wood, ceramics, and a wide range of other materials, Höglund developed an extraordinarily diverse body of work, ranging from production pieces to unique works. Even after 20 years of following his work, its full scope remains elusive.
In an effort to fill in some of those gaps, this exhibition brings together a carefully selected group of works by Erik Höglund, including pieces we have never previously handled.
