"Bölgeblick" won second place in the pressed glass category of the Karhula–Iittala glass design competition held in 1932.
It was introduced internationally early on, exhibited in London the following year in 1933, and production began at Karhula in 1934.
At the Milan Triennale in 1936, it won the Grand Prix for exhibition design, and simultaneously, the "Bölgeblick" series was awarded a gold medal.
Around 1937, it began to be sold as the "Aalto" series, named after the designer.

The name "Bölgeblick" is said to be associated with the functionalist building "Café Böljeblick" that appeared at the 1930 Stockholm Exhibition, which is considered the starting point of Nordic modern design. It is regarded as a design born within the growing trend of Nordic modern design at the time.
In Finnish, "Aalto" means "wave," and the concentric circular form, spreading out like ripples, is a double entendre that also coincides with the designer's name.
The distinctive stepped rings not only beautifully reflect light but also offer the practical advantage of allowing the vessels to be stacked for storage.
It also served as a way to make air bubbles and wrinkle-like marks, common in mass-produced glass at the time, less noticeable.
It is one of the representative products of Nordic modern design, with the "Aino Aalto" series still being produced by Iittala today.

This item was originally a container for mustard sold by PAULIG, a Finnish food and beverage company founded in 1876.
It was manufactured from 1934 to 1939.

*It is in good condition with no noticeable damage.
As is characteristic of glass products from the time of manufacture, there may be air bubbles, wrinkles, and distortions, and there are individual differences in size and shape.
While noticeable damage is described, please understand that other minor scratches and scuffs are to be expected for an item approximately 90 years old.
As this is a rare item, it was purchased under different criteria than our usual merchandise.
Please kindly understand this point.
