After studying ceramics and sculpture at Konstfack (now the University of Arts, Crafts and Design) in Stockholm, she studied under Nathalie Krebs, founder of Saxbo and a specialist in glaze chemistry, at a school in Copenhagen. In 1951, she established her own studio in Malmö.
In 1953, she held her first solo exhibition in Stockholm with textile designer Ingrid Dessau. In 1955, at H55, a representative exhibition of Nordic design held in Helsingborg, she gained significant attention for her spice jars with cork lids.
Since then, she has presented her works with leading Swedish manufacturers and brands such as Boda, Boda Nova, Rörstrand, Design House Stockholm, Höganäs Keramik, Svenskt Tenn, and Gustavsberg.
In 1958, she received the Lunning Prize, one of the most prestigious awards in Nordic design. Strongly influenced by Lucie Rie and Bernard Leach, she also resonated with the philosophy of folk art.
While respecting tradition, she researched various materials such as ceramic, glass, cork, and stainless steel with original ideas and incorporated them into her works.
She also created numerous public monuments, including the wall design for the Stockholm subway.
In 1985, she became the first female professor in the field of design in Sweden at her alma mater, Konstfack.
In 2000, at the age of 75, she re-established her studio in her hometown of Malmö and continued to create actively until her later years.
